Dimensional Weight Calculator
Enter package dimensions and actual weight to estimate dimensional weight and billable weight. Use carrier defaults or set your own divisor.
Divisors auto-fill from tracked public carrier rules and can be overwritten. FedEx commonly uses divisor 139 for inch/lb dimensional weight. Service-specific and contract rules may vary.
Your calculation: 16 x 12 x 10 / 139 = 13.82 lb.
Formula
Dimensional weight = length x width x height / divisor
For inch/lb calculations, many parcel examples use a divisor such as 139. For cm/kg international courier calculations, a divisor such as 5000 is common. Always confirm the rule for your service.
When to use this
Use it before quoting customers, choosing packaging, comparing carrier services or checking whether a large lightweight parcel will rate above its actual weight.

Frequently asked
How do carriers calculate dimensional weight?
They multiply length, width and height, then divide the package volume by a divisor such as 139 for many inch/lb parcel calculations.
What is billable weight?
Billable weight is the greater of actual weight and dimensional weight. It is the weight value normally used for rating the shipment.
Can I use a custom divisor?
Yes. Choose Custom or overwrite the divisor field when your carrier, contract, country or service uses a different rule.
